About Elizabeth Bailey

For the last ten years, I've been assessing and critiquing for authors working towards publication. My clients range from complete beginners through experienced novelists. In particular, in these days of author choice, I assess and do developmental editing for writers who are self-publishing their work.

At least four writers I helped take their first steps are now under contract with traditional publishing houses. I have currently one client under my mentoring scheme, who is writing a children's series. I assess all his work and help with advice on publishing. My self-publishing clients tend to use me every time they put out a book.

These days I am able to advise, assist, guide and offer impartial advice on all aspects of writing and publishing, and most of my business is acquired through word of mouth.

My publication journey began with 18 historical romances published by Harlequin Mills & Boon, which have sold well over a million copies in more than a dozen countries.  I moved into self-publishing in 2012 and have worked with friends on Regency anthologies over the last few years. I have put out over two dozen titles on Amazon and elsewhere and work as an authorpreneur.

During the last two years Sapere Books have published, with great success, my Lady Fan Mystery series, and are also bringing out my Brides by Chance Regency Adventures.

I have written in the region of 50 full-length novels, some of which never saw the light of day, but my traditional publishing record now numbers more than two dozen titles, alongside my own self-published works.

I have ghostwritten two autobiographies. As a theatre practitioner, I wrote and directed plays and taught drama to adults and up to A Level in schools.  I have run innumerable writing workshops at Arts Festivals and adult education institutes and have read for the Romantic Novelists’ Association assessment service for new writers.

With all this experience, I can say with confidence that I can look over a piece of writing and readily see just where it can do with a few tweaks or revisions to make it the best it can be.
